What Do You Know About "The Nature Series" and "The Animal Kingdom" is a collection of thirty-six tests developed by Learning Magic, Inc. and utilizing the SoftTouch, Inc.® assessment application Test Me, Score Me®. It provides a reading comprehension and assessment component to pair with Learning Magic's two book collections for My Own Bookshelf®, The Nature Series and The Animal Kingdom.

Please note: The textual content in these tests can easily be changed to meet the needs of individual students. For tips on how to do this and for terms of use for revised versions, click here.

These tests would be administered after students have read the books in these two collections. Important: You need a copy of Test Me Score Me v. 2.1 to run these tests. There are eighteen tests for each of the two collections, corresponding directly to the individual books in each collection. A test page consists of a photograph, a question relating to the photo, and three text answer choices. Tests are five to six pages in length, and use photos similar to those in the books.

The question and answer choices read out automatically. Students can click the question to hear it read again. Once a student clicks a choice, the other two choices are removed. There is the option to give the student feedback or not as answers are chosen.

Tests are arranged nine at a time into individual filing cabinets, each filing cabinet having the same nine books as the corresponding bookshelf in one of the two book collections. Each filing cabinet of tests is imported as a unit into Test Me Score Me. At this point the tests are ready to administer. They may be assigned one at a time, or multiple tests may be given in a session.

While tests are ready to run as soon as they are imported, the educator or staff member can easily edit or change both questions and answers to meet their students' needs.

Data collection is automatic within Test Me Score Me. Test results can then be printed out and placed in a student's portfolio to assess comprehension in both literacy (reading) and science.

The application Test Me Score Me is required to run these tests. To make full use of the thirty-six tests on the CD, you should have both The Nature Series and The Animal Kingdom from Learning Magic, Inc. All three products are available from Learning Magic, Inc. Samples to Download

In keeping with our practice of providing samples from all our products, we have posted two of the tests from this CD as Goodies for you to download and try out. These two tests correspond to two of the sample books, so be sure to download those as well and let your students read the books before taking the tests. Note that there are no "readers" for tests. Instead, you will need Test Me Score Me v.2.1 to run these samples. The two sample tests are:
What Do You Know About Life in The Northlands?, that matches the book by that title from The Nature Series CD, and
What Do You Know About Orangutans?, that matches the sample book by that name from The Animal Kingdom CD.
