Research indicates that when students select their own books to read, their literacy levels improve. My Own Bookshelf® gives your students the ability to select their own books and to read them as often as they wish. This easy book-authoring program can be used to edit and customize the Learning Magic books that were built in it, or to create new books.

The program walks you through making books, putting books on bookshelves and selecting books for students to read. When authoring, wizards are used to add media such as images, Quicktime and AVI movies, and add text. Sound options include importing, recording or using Text-to-Speech (TTS).

Once a new book is finished, a student chooses completed books from an electronic bookshelf. If you have installed books from one of the Learning Magic CDs such as The Nature Series or The Animal Kingdom, the bookshelves containing these books will come up as possible choices.

As the student turns pages, each page is read aloud by the computer. After the final page, "THE END" is displayed and then the program cycles back to the start of the book. My Own BookShelf® also collects data on each student's reading experience.

Test Me Score Me 2.0 allows alternative assessments for students with moderate to severe disabilities. Making a test is as simple as selecting images, adding text or sound files and then 'assigning' an answer by simply dragging and dropping an icon over an object. An answer can be an image, animated gif or text box.

Test Me Score Me (TMSM) is needed to run the Learning Magic tests that coordinate with its book collections. You can use TMSM to change any of the questions and answers in the What Do You Know About "The Nature Series" and "The Animal Kingdom" CD to customize the CD for a specific student's needs. There are also 9 different templates that you can use to create a test from scratch.

A student taking a test has all of the universal access methods that are included in the rest of our software. You can choose the mouse, touchscreen, single switch, two switch or IntelliKeys keyboard to provide access for a student taking a test. Data collection is the key to the test taking. A snapshot of the question, the answer and a 'correct/incorrect' indication is recorded for each question. Results can be printed out to include in the student's portfolio.
