Tooie's Toucan Country

"Tooie's Toucan Country" is a book written in SoftTouch's My Own Bookshelf® that explores the wonderous world of the tropical rainforest. "Tooie" is a toucan who leads the child through an exploration of the tropical rainforest from the canopy (where he lives) down through the understory and to the rainforest floor. In each layer, the child will encounter different animals and learn how life differs there. The child will learn about not only toucans and other birds, but snakes and monkeys, caiman and even the jaguar.

Each page includes high quality photography of the tropical rainforest and its residents. Close ups of the environment and the animals bring the vivid reality of the environment to the child. "Tooie's Toucan Country" is written at a late first grade to mid second grade reading level (Yellow Star Level). The text can however be easily changed to meet individual student needs, if you own a copy of My Own Bookshelf®.

The books are available in an electronic format for computer use, but also can be printed and used as additional self selected reading resources in your classrooms.
