"Frogs" is a self-selected reading book designed in My Own Bookshelf. It can act as bonus book that can be added to "The Animal Kingdom" collection of eighteen books available through Learning Magic. In the "Frogs" book we identify frogs as amphibians and provide a few simple facts in regards to what all amphibians are like. We next look at the frog life cycle (i.e. eggs, tadpoles, froglets and frogs) through a series of high quality photographs. The child also reads about frog behaviors in the water and on land. |
|
Then the child reads briefly about an unusual kind of frog, poisonous dart frogs from the South American rainforests. The book then closes with an assurance that the frogs that we see in our local ponds and lakes are harmless and fun to watch and listen to. Appropriate sound effects are used to accentuate the point. The vocabulary of "Frogs" is at the second to third grade level. |
