Clara Barton

This twelve page book is written at a second to third grade reading level and provides a brief insight into this famous American's life and accomplishments. Historic photos and drawings illustrate the book and add visual interest for students.

The Clara Barton book recounts the three things for which most people remember Clara Barton. These are: working on the battlefields and assisting the wounded and sick during the Civil War, running the agency for missing soldiers after the Civil War, and helping found the American Red Cross.

The book also points out that Clara Barton started out as a teacher and taught in Massachusetts for ten years before moving to Washington, D.C. to work in the government.
