The Armadillos book takes a close up look at this interesting mammal that has migrated up from South America into the lower southern portions of the United States over the last century. The book provides both close up photographs and movies of these slow moving omnivores and their unusual habits. |
|
Students will learn about the armored plates of armadillos and how, like their cousin the anteater, they use their noses, tongues and long claws to dig up insects, worms and grubs to eat. At the end of the book students will also learn that the armadillo has poor vision. Coupled with its slow movement, this trait often results in the armadillo's demise upon our nation's highways and other thoroughfares. |
