State Fair Adventure

The State Fair is an event that happens in every State during the summer. The State Fair Adventure takes children through two common areas of the fair, the section with a large number of rides and the section where animals are on display.

The activity was built in the Learning Magic Adventure template, from the Adventures in Reading CD. Each page has a graphic and a paragraph, and two buttons. The red and yellow buttons on each page allow the child to choose which way to go next.

Thus students decide in what order to explore, and as a result they become active participants in the fair. Besides the photos, movies of the rides and the animals make this a very realistic experience.

In the activity eight different paths exist within the fifteen pages. This provides not only varying experiences within the venue but also allows the child to try to figure out what they have seen before and what they may have missed in their previous travels through the fairgrounds.

When students have finished exploring the fair, they can write about their experiences in the State Fair Writing activity, which you can also download from Goodies.

This activity was built in Classroom Suite v. 3.2. The activity can be run on the ITAN Player. But IntelliPics Studio 3® is needed to perform data capture, automatic grading and portfolio management, as well as any editing or changes to the activity itself.
