Butterfly House Writing - Supported

This activity was developed in one of the new templates that will be available on the Learning Magic, Inc. Writing Bin CD later this year. It is a companion activity to the Butterfly House Adventure which is also available in the Goodies section. After children have traveled through the butterfly house in the adventure activity, they have the opportunity to write about what they seen and learned about tropical butterflies and the rainforest environment.

In the Butterfly House Writing ­ S activity, two introductory pages explain the writing assignment. Then the child is provided with eight pages of pictures and textboxes that enable them to write about their recollections and knowledge.

A toolbar with sixteen words they have encountered during the adventure provides writing support. An on-screen keyboard is also available to provide writing assistance for scanners if needed. A custom overlay is attached for use with IntelliKeys®.

If an educator has a copy of IntelliPics Studio 3® they can easily change the words on the toolbar for further customization for a student. Word prediction can also be used with this activity if it has been enabled in the student's preferences.

This activity was built in Classroom Suite v. 3.2. The activity can be run on the ITAN Player. But IntelliPics Studio 3® is needed to perform data capture, automatic grading and portfolio management, as well as any editing or changes to the activity itself.
