Beach Addition to Nine

This activity uses the basic Addition template that is in the IntelliTools Classroom Suite math templates folder. In this activity the child is presented with ten addition questions regarding crabs and starfish that meet at the beach. An ocean shore background is also provided as a backdrop to the addition problems. All of the answers are preset so automatic grading, student check work, and reporting is available, if you have the full version of IntelliMathics 3®. A custom IntelliKeys overlay is attached.

(Please note: In this template, what is being checked is the number of objects in each counting box as well as whether the equation is written correctly. The template does not allow for checking of the actual objects (i.e. crabs and starfish) in the counting boxes.

We have set the equation box to reflect a correct answer if the child writes (2 + 3 = 5 as well as allowing 3 + 2 = 5 as a correct answer although the problem may have said 2 crabs meet 3 starfish at the shore). Required software: IntelliTools Classroom Suite Player®, or IntelliMathics 3®.
