Learning Magic, Inc

A Zoo Adventure

John and Clarice are visiting the local zoo. There are so many animals to see! Should they go to the primates area first, or start out observing the animals of the savanna? Choices made by the student reading this story determine what will happen next.

On each page of this activity, students read a paragraph and then make a choice between two buttons to decide what they want to do next. With only 15 pages, the story actually has eight different outcomes. On the last page of each thread, students can either quit or return to the first page to try out a different path through the story. Students can wander around the zoo in an order of their own choosing, and photos and movies combine to make the experience extremely realistic.

If you enjoy this activity, you will be interested in a Learning Magic CD that has a set of finished stories and templates to make new stories using digital photos. The activities span the curriculum, and range from the simple to the complex in vocabulary and content. Some stories are full of facts like this one. Others are just for fun.
