From our "The Suitcase Series" CD, this math activity provides students with the ability to practice subtraction problems with built in animated support which will provide them both auditory and visual representation of the problem when the "help" button is clicked.

This activity was built in one of "The Writing Bin" CD’s scaffolded templates and provides photographic images, sound effects etc. of different things you might see in the sky. Repetitive text along with the photographic images introduces each object to the student initially. Later in the writing portion the student then has the opportunity to write about each object using their own words.

This activity was specifically developed to aid an elementary school child who was having trouble sharing food in his classroom and in a lunchroom setting. One of the student's favorite things to do was to go a local farm where he loved to watch, pet and be around the large farm animals. We developed the "Sharing The Hay" activity, which shows the different animals on the farm "eating and sharing hay", using one of the templates from the recently released The Writing Bin CD to provide writing support.

This puzzle is built upon one of the templates available on the Learning Magic, Inc.'s Puzzling CD.
As the three puzzle pieces are removed, a close-up photograph of a one inch tall crawfish with his pinchers fully extended in an attack position is revealed. One final click on the puzzle results in a short movie of the same crawfish waving his pinchers back and forth as he slowly retreats to the water's edge.

The "It's Springtime" activity is a short six page activity that was built specifically for single and dual switch users who have low vocabulary skills.The activity cycles from page to page after a mouse or a switch is clicked. The six pages have photographs, sound effects and movies where appropriate to illustrate things that occur in the spring.

Curriculum area: Cause and Effect and Science.Magic Kingdom answers a teacher's request for us to develop something for a student who always wanted to go to Disney World, but due to being so profoundly involved physically was never able to make the journey. So we have attempted to bring The Magic Kingdom to her.
High quality videos bring it all to life, and later in the activity the student has a chance to choose four different areas to visit. Magic Kingdom is appropriate for Grade 2 and upward depending upon the child.

This activity was developed in one of the two-button templates from Learning Magic, Inc.'s Cause & Effect And BEYOND CD in conjunction with a fifth grade special education teacher who wanted to introduce new language in and around the subject of vehicles and provide quick classroom assessment of her students' knowledge in this subject area. A simple modification, displaying the button names, optimized this template to produce an activity that accomplished both goals.

This puzzle is built upon one of the templates available on the Learning Magic, Inc.'s Puzzling CD. It requires the child to click on the puzzle three times to remove the three puzzle pieces and display the entire picture of the Owl Butterfly. When the child clicks a fourth time, a movie plays which shows the butterfly flapping its wings. This puzzle is being used in classrooms as a subject starter about tropical butterflies, their environment, their defense mechanisms (i.e. camouflage) and other subjects related to the tropical rainforest.

Susan Norwell is the author of this writing activity, which provides background on firefighters and what they do on a day-to-day basis to keep us safe, followed by pages where children can write. Clicking an "Insert Pictures" button in the template provides eight firefighter-related photos on a toolbar, which children can insert into the pages to illustrate their story.

The On the Farm Writing activity is based upon one of the new Learning Magic Picture Writing templates that we are developing. On the first writing page, students can click on the Insert Pictures button, which will open a toolbar with eight photos of different animals that may be found on a farm. They can then click on any animal to insert the picture onto the page. Then they can write about the animal in the textbox provided.

Kids take a virtual trip to an old-fashioned amusement park in this activity. They can choose any or all of five rides from the map that makes up the menu page. The narrative, animation, and movies make this a realistic and fun exploration.

The books and writing activities are on three levels, from a simple animated story and errorless writing set (easy level) to a discussion of photosynthesis, chloroplasts, and why leaves change colors coupled with a conventional level writing book with photos to describe.

Here is an activity that lets you plant a garden without getting hot, sweaty, and sunburned. Best of all, it is switch accessible, and comes with its own IntelliKeys® overlay, so that all students can participate. Students are cued to pick the correct garden implement or materials for each step, and IntelliMation® carries out the action as they loosen the soil, rake it smooth, shake out the seeds, cover them with dirt, water carefully, and wait for the sun to cause the seeds to sprout. Then they see the flowers grow and bloom, and get to color the flowers. They finish by writing about their garden and printing it out.

The Baton Rouge Zoo Adventure is an activity built upon one of the templates found on the Learning Magic, Inc. "Adventures in Reading" CD. In this adventure children get to explore the wonderful Baton Rouge, Louisiana Zoo at their own pace, choosing their route through the story much like they would explore a zoo in the real world. Close-up photos and exciting videos of the animals bring a vivid sense of realism to this exploration.

The BlueBonnet Swamp Adventure is an activity built upon one of the templates found on the Learning Magic, Inc. "Adventures in Reading" CD. In this adventure children get to take a virtual walk along pathways into a swamp where they get exposure to both the plants and animals that live there. Children will learn about the general environment in the swamp and encounter animals along the way including but not limited to dragonflies, alligators, raccoons and owls.

"Parts of a Butterfly" is an activity developed in the "Parts of a..." template created by Learning Magic. In this activity the child will be able to move a magnifying glass around the various parts of a motorcyle as highlighted by colorful circles and squares. Once the child places the magnifying glass inside a circle or square it will take them to a page where they can read about that part of the butterfly.

"Follow the Easter Bunny" is an activity that uses clickable invisible buttons to guide children through the story as they pursue the Easter Bunny to his final destination. As the Easter Bunny hops through the pages, the child is asked to click on where the Easter bunny is "hiding" or "where you last saw him". We will be using this activity to assist in visual tracking and to also help teach the concepts of "in" and "behind" for early learners.

"Remember how much fun it was to color Easter eggs? Remember how un-fun it was to clean up the mess? Avoid the mess by coloring a digital Learning Magic egg instead! "Paint The Egg" is a switch accessible activity that allows your students to paint multiple stripes on an egg by choosing colors from a toolbar with twelve distinct colors available.

f I Owned An Elephant" is a book written in the Learning Magic Electronic Book template and it tells the story of Ordell who imagines what it would be like to have his very own pet elephant.

The child is presented with a picture of a dilapidated house (Haunted House) and is asked if they can help find out who lives in the house. A click on any one of the seven windows or doors will provide a glimpse inside the house. Each window or door has an appropriate Halloween based character or characters behind it. Sound effects and IntelliMation accompany the characters.

This Halloween based puzzle is created in the Learning Magic three piece puzzle template. With each click, part of a Halloween scene is revealed and a Halloween sound is heard. Once the child has clicked three times to remove all of the puzzle pieces, they can click a fourth time and they will receive the final reward. A large number of Halloween characters emerge along with a final sound effect, and a concluding auditory message of "Trick or Treat".

Vehicle Addition to 6 is based upon the NEW Learning Magic addition template which not only tracks the correct number of objects in the counting boxes but also checks to make sure that the objects in the counting boxes are the correct objects based upon the text box scenario. For example, the text states that four jeeps and two corvettes are available for sale at an audition. The child first is instructed to place four jeeps in the left counting box, then two corvettes in the middle counting box. After that they are to place the total number and assortment of vehicles in the right-most counting box using the correct objects and finally to write the equation below.

Halloween Subtraction to 9 is based upon the NEW Learning Magic "Subtraction Plus" template. In this template we not only track the correct mathematical calculation but also track and check that the correct objects (i.e. children dressed as ghosts and or witches) are put into the counting boxes as described in the text box above.

In the collaborative development process of "The Exploring Nature Collection" with Pati King DeBaun, we developed a series of books for varying levels of emergent readers. In the final compilation process some of the books we had developed were not incorporated into the final shipping version of the product. Who Has Antlers is one of those extra books, written at the Easy level on the subject of who has antlers. Each animal is shown in a high quality photo.

"Monsters Under My Bed" is an original poem/book developed in the Learning Magic Electronic Storybook template. The poem was written by Byron and the artwork/illustration was done by Ann. We both believed as young children that there were monsters hiding either under our beds or in the closet, so we had to bring them to life again in our second childhood.

The Chicken House is a two part activity. The first portion of the activity was developed in IntelliPics Studio 3® and provides pictures of the chicken house and its wide variety of residents. After exploring the chicken house and its denizens, the activity is linked to an "addition" activity which provides a series of questions related to the number of poultry that are involved in various endeavors around the chicken house. The second portion of the activity is built in IntelliMathics 3® .

This activity is built in IntelliPics Studio 3® and utilizes the original Electronic Storybook template created by Karen Sheehan. The story is a simple one: the story of a mosquito, a frog, a heron, a lion, a big game hunter and another mosquito. The kids we have worked with have gone back multiple times to "read it" and it continues to hold their interest and laughter.

This activity is based upon the IntelliMathics 3® Addition Template (Addition in the Desert). In this activity the child is presented with eight addition problems using the numbers 1-5 to arrive at sums ranging from two to five. The activity has a background picture of the woods. Children are presented with addition problems wherein they have to add beetles and caterpillars together.

The Addition in the Sky activity provides children with the ability to add up to ten planes or helicopters in the sky at any one time. The activity provides ten problems, each based upon a written problem that is presented in a text box.

The Subtraction in the Savanna activity is based upon a modified template that Learning Magic has created for subtraction. We modeled this template after the IntelliMathics 3® Addition template (Addition in the Desert activity). The child must put items equal to the remainder in a final counting box and then write an equation to represent the story or question that was originally presented. This activity works with numbers from 1 to 6.

This activity provides children with the opportunity to write about eight items found in the bathroom as they relate to daily grooming and cleanliness. The items include bathtub, toilet, hair dryer, tooth brush and tooth paste etc.

This activity is based upon a sequencing template, and was developed to provide students with the steps to exit the school bus, enter the building, visit the bathroom if necessary, and then proceed to their classroom where they have to hang up their coats and proceed to their desks with various instructions/steps along the way. The purpose of the activity is to see if the child can put the steps into the proper sequence.

This activity provides a wide range of photos on various spiders. The activity provides details on what constitutes a spider and how they vary from insects. It also discusses unique characteristics and habits of various spiders in regards to webs, habitats and hunting.

This activity primarily uses digital photos to show the characteristics of a butterfly. The activity defines butterflies as insects and outlines in a simple manner what characteristics a butterfly has that makes it an insect. The activity was requested by a group of teachers who wanted to extend the popular Brown Bear, Brown Bear paradigm to one that asks the question "What do you hear" rather than "What do you see". After posting the activity "Mr. Lion - What do you hear?", I received several requests asking if I would create a similar activity using photos and appropriate sound clips of farm animals. A click of a switch; a press of a button on an IntelliKeys keyboard or a mouse click will move the child through the ten pages, and then back to the first page.

The ice and icicles activity was developed after having a discussion with a second grade class wherein we were asked what makes ice freeze. Doing some initial research on materials that were already at the school, I found there was little available. As a result, the first time it got cold enough for ice to freeze on the local ponds, out I went with my camera and the activity and resulting extra photos are now available for your use.

Pictures and in some cases IntelliMations illustrate the preposition, and the student clicks one of two buttons to indicate the correct answer. This activity advances after each answer.

On each page of this activity a text box asks a question beginning with "which". The question is read out to the student, and the student has a choice of two pictures to click on in order to answer the question. This easy errorless writing activity provides children with seven sentences about various activities and items associated with Valentine's Day. Sentences and images are provided in each case and represent the actions of giving flowers and chocolates plus providing images of cupid, heart shaped cookies and more. .

This activity is based upon the Easy Writing template and provides children with the "beginning sentence" of "Saint Patrick's Day is" followed by seven Irish symbols of the holiday. Children begin the sentence with "My cat likes" and can complete the sentence with any of seven sentence enders just by clicking buttons.

The activity "Saint Patrick's Day" is based upon the IntelliTalk 3® Writing in Science template and provides children with eight images relating to Saint Patrick's Day. A corresponding word bank provides appropriate words to write about Saint Patrick's Day and the items associated with the Irish. Images include the four leaf clover, green hats, shamrocks, leprechauns etc.

This download is a combination of three simple activities. The first one was developed in IntelliPics Studio 3®, and includes a photograph of Peter Pan's statue in Kensington Gardens, London on the first page, followed by the history of the book Peter Pan. The second activity uses the IntelliTalk 3® Fairy Tales Template to provide the basis for children to resequence the story. The third activity is a short review written in IntelliTalk 3® with answer fields to test the children's comprehension and memories of both the story's history and the story itself.
