Winter Is

"Winter Is" is an activity built in one of "The Writing Bin CD" templates which provides a photo representation of winter scenes and occurrences.

This activity's underlying template allows us to provide initial content information to the student (i.e. textual content, photos, sound effects). After the initial introduction to the content, the student then goes to the first writing page and clicks on a toolbar of eight photographs which they originally saw in the introductory content. By clicking on the picture, the picture is automatically inserted onto the writing page. The student then has the opportunity to write further about the picture on that page.

The students are instructed in the directions to insert each of the eight pictures on different writing pages and describe the picture in their own words. A toolbar containing sixteen words that the student encountered (i.e. read or listened to) in the original content piece is also available to support the student in their writing endeavors.

Students can also click on the "Read Page" button to listen to what they have written. This helps students self-correct their own writing in many cases.

This activity was built in Classroom Suite v. 3.2. The activity can be run on the ITAN Player. But IntelliPics Studio 3® is needed to perform data capture, automatic grading and portfolio management, as well as any editing or changes to the activity itself.
